Just In Time For Snow - Danced Alone (who I am when I'm in love), Humm

Humm is a duo that I've known for a fair while, and every so often I message them to see when their next release is coming because I'm always so hyped to hear what they do next. Their first single, Mankind (No More), is one of my favourite songs of all time - paying homage to Mother Nature in one of the most beautiful ways I've ever heard, and now they've done it again!

Their newest single is called Danced Alone (who I am when I'm in love), and where the last single showed us something new, this song sounds like the Humm that everyone knows and loves - just minimal and comforting, like a warm blanket. This song is exactly what they sound like live - just beautiful and simple and warm.

We also got a lovely little vocal part from Arty in here, which just makes my heart break - these two voices go together so well. I know that when Arty starts singing at Humm's love shows, everyone's breathing hitches because it's something that we've all been waiting for, and yet we never know when it's coming - the same thing happens in this track (for me, at least). It adds another level of humanity.

When the strings came in, I literally shed a tear (I think because I definitely have a soft spot for strings, but still) - It just adds a small bit to the song that keeps it simple, but just opens it up and makes it so much more emotional. It's a perfectly tasteful part, and I think it's all this song needs - no more, no less.

This mix feels like the duo are in the room with you, singing to you and giving you a hot chocolate and wrapping you in blankets. It's an indescribable comfort that I think is really craved and appreciated at this time of year. When it starts snowing (fingers crossed), I really recommend wrapping up warm, taking a walk outside, and just looking around you while playing this song. I think it'll bring a new level of beauty to any natural surroundings you find yourself in. For me, it feels like home.
