The Boys Are Back For Round 2 - Rolled Up Love, Laura's Dream

It's safe to say the boys of Laura's Dream are keeping up the momentum with their newest release, Rolled Up Love, coming out less than half a year after their smashing debut Is It Worth Talking About? (which was also very well received by all). These songs pair together super well, both shooting straight for those student parties and nostalgic road trips that we all lust for at one point or another. I dunno about you, but this song makes me miss my uni days, and mine aren't even over yet!

Laura's Dream formed during university last year, and consists of 4 lads in their early 20's that drink stella and play music around the clock (I should know, I live with one of them
-_-). It's so rare to find talented musicians that blend with others so easily, but this lot have somehow stumbled into this slightly disfunctional group, and managed to turn it into a project that will be making the anthems of the 2020's, I'm tellin ya. This song is gonna be playing at all the house parties this year, I can feel it.

Now to get into the actual song itself. Firstly, an amazing mix by Ross Rothero-Bourge (find him here) - the soaring guitars are layered so well over each other, without being overpowering. The drums have a lovely shiny wash to them, and the VOCAL. Oh my GOD. Tom's voice in this is the best I've ever heard it. I think it's my favourite part of this track in particular, if not the synth that comes through in that bridge, which really made me chuckle - making the synth so prominent is a new angle for Laura's Dream, and I'm a large fan of it. It sets the song apart from other Arctic Monkeys-esque tracks that are becoming really unoriginal these days. If the attention drifts towards the bridge, that synth instantly snaps it back. An extremely smart move.
All I'm gonna say is that years from now, when uni is long behind me, I'm gonna be flicking through my albums of my time in my early 20's and smiling wistfully at the photos filled with clubs, sunsets, bottles of beer and fairy lights, and this song will be the one playing in the background. Great job boys, can't wait for the next one. If there's anyone that the industry should be keeping their eyes on, it's these guys.
